"It was one of life's most wonderful coincidences when I heard about Pavitra through a relative of mine. I thought furnishing an entire new house would be chaotic and a headache to execute, but working with Pavitra made it not only easy as a breeze but exciting as well. Not many designers would take a client's personal taste into consideration when planning a space, luckily I ended up with someone who does. I've met many interior designers but Pavitra's name always comes first to mind when friends or family ask me for a recommendation."

Belgian Beer Cafe, Dubai

This week I want to share with you some interesting features from a café I was invited to for lunch called the “Belgian Beer Café “, Crowne Plaza, Dubai. Belgian Beer Café is THE PLACE for beer lovers! Belgium is known for its beer, chocolate and diamonds. They offer a wide range of Belgian specialty beer, from the renowned brands to local beers.

I completely adore the architecture of this space, Belgian Beer Café “Olivier” Utrecht . It seems like it was created in an old church because of its high vaulted ceilings and arched windows. I am certain that during the day this space is flooded with natural light and it looks simply spectacular!

The same ambience was re-created in Belgian Beer Café, Crowne plaza, Dubai. Some elements that stuck out were, the imprint of this pattern on the wooden bench and bar stools with the nail head trim.

From the columns, a decorative metal shelf with hooks has been installed and every column holds interesting items such as musical instruments, old suitcases…

Wooden paneling wraps all sides of the café, which also breaks the height of the walls.  Old prints and accessories are used to decorate the rest of the wall.

Blue and brown patterned tiles fooled me into thinking they were laid at an angle! Whereas the pattern on the tile itself is at an angle which provides this illusion. This illusion also helps the space look wider, very clever indeed! These tiles also provide the only blast of color in the otherwise stark white toilets. Also notice how they break the pattern under the sink by using a different patterned tile. The pedestal sinks are beautiful as well, with intricate framed mirrors.

Next week i will post more pictures of some unique features from around the hotel in which this cafe is located....till then...STAY FUNKY!
