"It was one of life's most wonderful coincidences when I heard about Pavitra through a relative of mine. I thought furnishing an entire new house would be chaotic and a headache to execute, but working with Pavitra made it not only easy as a breeze but exciting as well. Not many designers would take a client's personal taste into consideration when planning a space, luckily I ended up with someone who does. I've met many interior designers but Pavitra's name always comes first to mind when friends or family ask me for a recommendation."

Crowne Plaza, Dubai

Following last weeks post about Belgian Beer Café, Crowne Plaza, this week I bring to you some features from around the hotel.

The monotony of the long passageway had been broken by the use of wooden planks, which flow in and out of the passageway. It reminds me of waves meeting its shore.

The use of the traditional Islamic pattern can be seen in the following pictures.

Here metal sheets have been laser cut with the Islamic pattern for the ceiling installation. I like how the modern (metal sheets) have been integrated with the traditional Islamic pattern.

Use of the Islamic pattern on doors and lamps is a common feature in Dubai.

This partition is clad with the Islamic pattern backed by tinted mirror.

This reception is simple yet beautiful. Dark emperador marble against the walnut wall paneling is stunning. And the best feature is the little metal eagles installed on the back panel.

This feature is truly breathtaking! A simple concept of using brick construction method, in technical terms we would call this the “Flemish Bond” except here they have omitted the use of the header. Wooden blocks have been used and this pattern demarcates the spaces beautifully.

These pictures are from a restaurant called “Anise”. The use of the organically shaped logs of wood is another striking feature. However I find a disconnect with those blue colored rods suspended from the ceiling.

Dubai is extravagant and everything is larger than life. Here they have used a life size tree and hung lights from the branches, which shades the reception area. I adore the use of table lamps on the dining tables.

In this section of the restaurant the blue colored rods seem to flow with the rest of the décor seamlessly. Notice the warm and inviting “Bread counter”

Though the hotel has many great features, it also has many design styles all in one place, which may or may not be a good thing. I leave it to you to decide….. till then…..STAY FUNKY!

I think that to get the credit loans from creditors you should have a good reason. However, once I have got a bank loan, just because I was willing to buy a building.
